This years Flu Clinic Programme is being delivered very differently to previous years due to the Pandemic. We are running the clinics on the first 3 Saturdays in October. If you are eligible for the vaccine you should have already received a letter from us with instructions as to how the clinics will run detailing social distancing and other safety measures.

If you have any queries about the Flu campaign this year or your appointed time, or indeed if you feel that you should have received a Flu Invitation letter and you haven't, Please email us at

Empowering people with the confidence and information to look after themselves when they can, and visit the GP when they need to, gives people greater control of their own health and encourages healthy behaviours that help prevent ill health in the long-term. See advice resource bottom of right hand column.

In many cases people can take care of their minor ailments, reducing the number of GP consultations and enabling GPs to focus on caring for higher risk patients, such as those with comorbidities, the very young and elderly, managing long-term conditions and providing new services.

Oriel Surgery Training Practice

Oriel Surgery has been accredited as a training practice, and from early August 2015 we will be hosting qualified doctors intending to become GP’s. Becoming a training practice means that we have been recognised for achieving higher standards of patient care – something that we earnestly value and treasure.

The GP Trainee is a fully qualified doctor who already has experience of hospital medicine and will gain invaluable experience by being based within the practice.

Please do not hesitate to speak to the GP or staff member about this new development

Cancelling your Appointment

If you are unable to attend an appointment with one of the doctors or nurses, please telephone the surgery as early as possible to cancel your appointment.

By giving us as much notice as you can you are helping us to make sure that someone else is given your slot.

Test Results

The Practice has an electronic link to the laboratory at the local Hospital.

To receive test results, please contact the Practice between the hours of 11-12pm and 3-4 pm. The receptionist will be happy to inform you of the test results reported by the doctor.

For reasons of confidentiality, information will not be given to another person unless prior permission has been given.

New Patient Registrationregister_now_blue_sign

Once it has been established that new patients reside within the practice’s geographical boundary (reception can advise), they will be invited to complete a confidential pre-registration form and may be asked to attend for a new patient medical.

Patients will not be registered with an individual doctor, but with the partnership. All patients have the right to see the doctor of their choice where it is possible and provided that the doctor routinely offers the services that they wish to avail of. Where a doctor does not provide that particular services, patients will be offered the opportunity to consult with another doctor who provides the service within the partnership.

Practice Area

Our practice area is within a 7 mile radius of the surgery. This is to ensure that we continue to maintain the required level of service provision to our patients. If you move to an area outside this radius, you will be required to register with your nearest practice WITHIN 30 DAYS, otherwise BSO will be notified and you will be removed from our list.

Guide to GP Services

The Royal College of General Practitioners has produced a useful guide for patients about the services on offer at GP Surgeries and how to access them.  You can download the guide below.
